BBNIque

BBNIque A Case Study by Benjamin MorrillProfessor Don JollyInternational Marketing IBUS13-353February 14, 2014Over a month ago now, I arrived in Australia and have since been exposed to numerous brand names and companies that do not exist, or at least very unfamiliar, within the United States. However, in the globalized marketplace we live in today it is rare to see new innovative products that don't already exist everywhere else in the world. The most brilliant and innovative brand I have yet to come across is Australia's BBQnique. As far as products within Barbeque and Grilling industry go, there is nothing else like a BBQnique grill available to consumers. When I first saw the grill being used by a party of about six people at a local bar, I was amazed at how genius and cool it was. It is one of those products that make you say, "Now why didn't I think of that?" The BBQnique grill is a million dollar idea and I believe this "start-up" business could potentially have tremendous success in the future.Perhaps, I could help bring the marketing skills needed by this family business to make it more than just a million dollar idea, but a reality. BBQnique was founded by Steve Zagar, a former opal miner in the Australian outback, who had a revolutionary new design for the barbeque grill. During his a time in Australian outback, his most enjoyable experiences were at mealtimes when all the miners would sit around a campfire, tell jokes and stories, and cook food on a hot plate set over the fire. Once he returned home he realized traditional Aussie barbecues were just not as fun as the barbeques he used to have out in the outback. That is when he decided to design the BBQnique grill. In the simplest of terms, it is just a circular table with a built in grill right in the center so families and friends can socialize with one another while they cook their food. The cook will not be left and it ensures that barbequing will not be a chore, but rather hours of entertainment. Howev er, some argue BBQnique has too much of a niche market and cannot compete with the cheaper prices set by competitors. I argue there are many reasons to support BBQnique could still have major success in this industry despite the issues they currently face.Founded in 2008, BBqnique is an Australian family owned company who take pride in every product they make. Despite registered designs in the US and Europe, BBQnique continues to market and sell primarily within the borders of Australia. The Barbeque and Grilling industry is very competitive and is denominated by large corporations such as Weber-Stephen Products, AB Electrolux, and Middlebury. According to IBISWorld, the grilling industry was hampered in the five years before 2013 mainly due to the recession. The recession significantly slowed demand for high-end grills, such as BBQnique, in favor for cheaper grills. However, from now until 2018 IBISWorld estimates the barbecue and grilling industry revenues will steadily increase. Considerable industry growth is expected as consumer incomes rise and private spending on home improvements also increase. According to Barbeques Galore, an Australian chain of retail stores specializing in barbecue grills and accessories, this past summer sales of barbeques had risen 20 percent from the previous summer. However, sales of international companies like United States manufactured Weber-Stephen Products are starting to dominate the Australian grill market. The Weber-Stephen Company now sells their grills in 30 different countries, and is having major success in many of these countries. These "big" businesses make it tough on small businesses like BBQnique to not only survive, but have success. According to theaustralian.com.au, a recent article published on January 14th of 2014 stated that sales of US-manufactured Weber barbeques in Australia increased an estimated 60 percent this past summer. Assuming BBQnique has the resources and capabilities to market their product internationally, I think it would in their best interest to start distributing their products in international markets. With barbequing rapidly becoming a globalized market, if BBQnique does not expand into larger markets they will not survive. BBQnique sold less than seventy units in 2012; however, they have been increasing yearly sales each year since. There are many market issues that are impacting the sales of BBQnique grills. A current trend in the Australian barbeque market is the revival of charcoal cooking being preferred by the consumers over gas and electric cooking methods. More and more people are buying grills that use traditional charcoal because they cook meat with a smoky flavor and a caramelized exterior that tastes superior to meats being cooked over gas or electric grills. Barbecue Galore's marketing manager David Campbell said quote, "We're seeing more customers who are willing to experiment. They're starting to realise the flavours and results are better with cha rcoal than gas." This market change is undoubtedly going hurt the BBQnique Company's sales. BBQnique designed their grills using gas tanks with convenience and simplicity in mind. Using the latest technology in the grilling industry, most BBQnique grills feature just one control valve, one ignitor, and one burner. Unfortunately, BBQnique may quickly learn that having the most advanced technology doesn't always pay off. In the Australian barbecue and grilling market, sometimes nothing beats the traditional ways of doing things as consumers are no longer quickly purchasing gas grills without at least considering the benefits of charcoal. However, there are many positive market characteristics within Australia that are having a direct impact on the increasing success of BBQnique. Most obviously, Australia's moderate climate allows BBQnique to sell their grills year round because there is always a demand. Also, there is a long tradition of barbecuing in Australia and is a significant pa rt of one's lifestyle to many Australians. For these reasons, consumers will be more likely to purchase high-end relatively expensive BBQnique grills in the Australian market than many other international markets. There are international markets that I believe BBQnique should focus on if they decide to expand globally. As an American consumer, I believe that BBQnique would increase revenues significantly by selling their unique grills in the United States for a variety of reasons. Barbecuing is a major aspect of the American lifestyle and the North American barbecuing industry continues to grow every year. According to the Hearth, Patio Barbecue Association, a study done in 2013 showed eighty-six percent of American households own some sort of grill. Also, gas grills continue to be the most purchased grill among American consumers. A dominating sixty-seven percent of American households that own a grill own a gas grill. That is a rise of four percent from 2012 when sixty-three perce nt of households that owned a grill was gas. This trend is great news for a company like BBQnique who only sells gas grills at the moment. Another current consumer trend in the American market is the demand for new accessories and innovative ways to make the cooking experience easy and fun. In my own personal opinion, BBQnique is the most innovative and fun idea the industry has seen in years. There is nothing like the BBQnique grill in the relatively large American marketplace and I strongly believe that consumers in America will go out of their way to purchase a one. However, there are some aspects of the American market that would not be so appealing to the BBQnique Company. Most significantly, only sixty-two percent of Americans who own grill use it year round. Much of the United States does not have a climate suitable for year round barbecuing and grilling. However, many Southern states do have a climate suitable for year round sales, so the Southern region of the United States should be focused on initially.Ultimately, America is just one of many potential international markets BBQnique should considering entering. I believe the most vital skill I can bring to this family business is my market research abilities. My ultimate goal in life is to land a market researching career somewhere because that is what I find most interesting and enjoyable. Through studying marketing research and statistical analysis, I would like to think my math and analytical skills are elite. The BBQnique company has a great product and is already successful within the Australian market in its short life. I think through proper research and methodological decision making, BBQnique can reach even more demanding markets and eventually become one of the most successful brands in the barbecue and grilling industry. Within the next year, my goal would be determine customer satisfaction with the brand, and also fully enter an international market whether it is the United States or some where else. Within the next three years, my goal would be to increase customer satisfaction by at least ten percent, increase sales by thirty percent, and increase brand awareness by fifty percent. Within the next five years, my goal would be to have BBQnique being sold in every major retailer within our market and reach five percent of the market share of the barbecue industry. Within the next fifteen years, my goal would be to have BBQnique be one of the most profitable and successful companies in the barbecue industry. In order to make my dream of working for this company and becoming a millionaire a reality, certain professional development steps need to be taken. It is important that I continue to soak in knowledge about successful marketing through obtaining my degree with high distinction. I should explore options and opportunities that will increase my skills and experience, further my education and training, expand my business network and relationships, increase communicatio n and public speaking skills, and ultimately transform myself into a marketing research superstar. I should make sure I stay up to date on market trends and be sure to stay informed on the BBQnique business. Upon graduation, I plan on contacting Steve Zagar, the founder and owner of BBQnique, and provide my services to the company. Hopefully, the rest will be history.

3G Services in India

The telecom expert’s view at a 3G India Mobile Operators Executive Summit was that the new service could lead to explosive 3G growth in India with low cost UMTS enable mobile phones. It would enable cheaper download of several applications like Mobile TV, Video clips of films and Sports like Cricket, Education network Gaming and Entertainment; for hi-end users, voice and video callings would be cheaper on 3G. The State run telecom operator Bhart Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) who have been providing 3Gmobile services for some months and still only licensees to provide the 3G mobile and broadband service in India, enlightened the operators assembled with their own experience in the much hyped 3G domain. India’s First 3G mobile service operator MTNL ’s Chief General Manager (Wireless Services-Delhi), A. K. Bhargava pointed out how the problem was not in technology but in ancillary services like billing and customer management. â€Å"The customer does not care whether it is 3G or 2G; we have to educate him on what benefits to expect from 3G.† MTNL had fewcustomers to begin with but once the benefits were explained â€Å"we had one lakh new 3G customers in just a month†. The higher tariff at the beginning restricted usage but â€Å"when tariff came down, customer base multiplied†, he added. His view was that â€Å"it was too early to talk of 3G services becoming popular with bottom of the pyramid customers.† But for the service to be profitable, the customer search should include middle level users as well as hi-end ones. The potentialcustomers could be preselected from the existing subscriber base and told about what 3G could mean to each one of them. The MTNL executive suggested that operators must project 3G as a tool for enhancing efficiency, productivity and as promoting a changed life style and not as a mere upgrade on 2G. According to the BSNL principal general manager for value added services, Mr. S. S. Sirohi, 3G would be most popular with those who need to use Internet while on the move. â€Å"Download is quick with 3G bandwidth† he pointed out taking a leaf out of his company’s offer of 3G services in the last few months. Live TV would be most popular and also network games with 3G availability. Mr. Sirohi advised theprospective operators to offer a bouquet of services on 3G different from the ones they were so far offering on the 2G networks. â€Å"Opportunity for network games is enormous on 3G networks. This bouquet of services would drive the quest for rising average revenue per user†. Among other services that 3G would make popular, would be family services like multi-media. Operators should configure services before they begin to offer the higher bandwidth. Educate the customer to discover that for many of the hi-end services, 3G base would be much cheaper for him. The experts also wanted the cost of handsets that can enable use of 3G, to be cheaper than what they are today. â€Å"A handset costing Rs 5,000 may not be cheap by our standards† Mr. Bhargava pointed out. â€Å"It should come down to Rs.3000 or even less.† Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) member R. N. Prabhakar advised the operators to use existing 2G networks to transmit 3G service also, to reduce costs enabling them with right software. HSPA enabled networks would be able to handle 3G transmission. He assured mobilecustomers that the regulator would keep a watch on the quality of service of 2G operation even as networks move on to provide 3G services. Mr. Avner Amran, chief operating officer of leading 3G network provider TTI Telecom, a worldwide company with comprehensive 3G network operator service solutions experience in several continents likened the explosive growth of telecomin India as â€Å"more a kind of revolution than evolution, any operator going into 3G needs to prepare for the switching by advance preparation of the potential customer and lining up adequate applications†, he told a select audience at the summit organised by Bharat Exhibitions.Bharat Exhibitions MD Mr. Shashi Dharan said â€Å"3G about to become a reality from a dream† emphasizing the context of the event. The 3G auctions are expected to conclude by February There will be three type of customers to drive 3G in india†¦. 1. Business people using phones as Data Modem. Some thing similar to Reliance NetConnect or Tata Photon+. Pricing should be comparable to exiting broadband plans. 2. Connected Generation which needs to own one device to manage there social networks e.g. skype, twitter, facebook and always connected. 3. This is also an opportunity for Indian developers to join efforts with operators to develop applications that will meet the needs of the Indian mobile user. And because of the size and India software skills, these could be rolled out into other emerging markets. 4. Moving 3G will enable high-speed data transfer enhance the user experience on services like live video streaming and many other graphic formats. As 3G is packet based, it uses wireless spectrum more efficiently than circuit switched formats. 5. The slow data transfer problems that subscribers faced with 2.5G will be improved by 3G. Also other services will be benefited by the higher bit pipe provided by 3G like music download or Internet applications/search. It will help operators offer rich content and new services such as mobile commerce, mobile music, video-based services and hi-speed mobile Internet services 6. Vsphere 4.1 and the security enhancements of it - Essay Example However, the network security remains a topmost consideration for manager at all levels and a solution viability and dependability proportionate the level of security it ensures. Specially, the threat of hackers requires extra bit of security and guard to ensure the cyber security in various implementations of virtualization. Therefore, the security aspect of virtualization software has become an important feature to lookout while determining its worth. vSphere â„ ¢ 4.1 VSphere â„ ¢ 4.1 is a virtualization platform provided by the VMware, a pioneer firm in the field of virtualization. The platform is used extensively in the industry for deployment of numerous servers and host in cloud infrastructures. The basic theme is to increase the utilization by exploiting the flexibilities of computing power of a server machine while incorporating effective security controls at various layers of a cloud network. The challenges faced by the platform include the higher availability of the n etwork resources, solid integration of various virtualized servers and ensured directory level security. VSphere â„ ¢4.1 has distinct security feature for various level including Enterprise, DMZ and Specialize Security Limited Functionality (SSLF). VSphere â„ ¢4.1 has come up with newer feature to introduce and incorporate these and many other built-in security controls and features. This concern grows even deeper when you have several servers

Case Study Analysis Google Inc. in China Term Paper

Case Study Analysis Google Inc. in China - Term Paper Example Compliance to Chinese law conflicts the process of conducting a successful business model for companies such as Google. When attempting to circumvent various govern-ment-sanctioned filters, consumer freedoms are at risk from authorities charged with Web surveillance. Concurrently, defying sanctions that are not aligned or considered appropriate for Western nations such as the United States can lead to significant business disruption if (or when) the government demands complete deconstruction of Internet services such as Google. Thus, personally speaking, the regulatory environment in China creates a conflict of interest within the business model as it pertains to providing excellence in service and maintaining a filtered Web presence that does not sustain revenue growth or even brand reputation. B. State what you are bracketing:5 Â ¶ Personal values associated with a firm belief in the democratic process and consumer independence must be removed to avoid bias when analyzing the case study. The socialist doctrine that has replaced long-standing communist values would, according to various theories, be associated with promoting liberties for consumers and giving them more ownership over business and personal lifestyle. An enduring and genuine distaste for oppressive regimes must be bracketed to avoid incorporation of personal values associated with analysis of the case study. II. The Situation6: A. List the facts7 relevant to the issue(s) identified: Â ¶ Deciding whether to defy regulatory authorities to provide a richer and more liberal Internet experience is conflicted by the high volume of policing officials dispersed throughout China. The sophistication of Chinese filtering poses many risks to a business model that is designed to extend breadth of knowledge to consumers, having built this capacity in a free nation where such issues are not a business risk. From human capital to technologies, non-compliance to regulatory demands is going to be noticed by gov ernment regulatory forces and, thus, businesses providing Internet content cannot avoid these filtering obligations if the business is to remain sustainable in a foreign nation. B. List the facts that comprise the historical context relevant to the issue(s) identified: Â ¶ The physical structure of the Internet in China that was developed since allowing Internet services in 1999 provides ample opportunities for enforcement of laws associated with content sanctions. Furthermore, recruitment of private citizens in the enforcement and reporting processes seriously conflict attempting to avoid establishing government-mandated controls and filtrations and expanded the reach of enforcement against these laws. The totalitarian regime in China is long-standing, developed under previous communist-oriented government frameworks. The Chinese government also was not forthcoming in establishing clear and concise frameworks to define compliance to Internet censoring. Lack of clear language made the process of complying with laws, while also attempting to improve profitability in China, created a need for innovation at Google to satisfy

Compare Newton and Goethe's theory described in a particular video Essay

Compare Newton and Goethe's theory described in a particular video - Essay Example When the cone is illuminated by white light on either sides, a grey shadow appears on either sides. When a green filter is used to cover one of the light sources, the set up displays a magenta shade. The magenta shade is a visionary creation of the eyes as green’s complimentary color. Goethe spent 40 years formulating his theory of colors. His studies took color as part of the human vision into account. Therefore, Goethe studied the human eye in detail and based his theory on man as an observer. The eye will always strive to bring about unity and totality in the way we perceive colors. The eyes create harmony by initiating complementary colors. For example, Red is the complementary color for cyan. Goethe studied the quality and characteristics of colors and the conditions under which specific colors came into existence. In his theory, Goethe reiterates that light and darkness are co-factors in the formation of colors. He encoded his research on colors on a color-wheel. The complimentary and harmonic color pairs are placed on opposite sides of the wheel. The harmonic colors form a basis for the interaction between a seeing man and the world of colors, that is, when the world shows us a particular color, our vision responds by perceiving a complementary color. The theory is insistent on the fact that the perception of color must take into account the qualities of color in dark conditions and in light as well. In his experiments, Newton constructed a triangular prism to advance his theory of the refraction of light. In the experiment, he directs a beam of sunlight to pass through the prism upon which refraction occurs. The refraction results into a spectrum which is a series of seven colors commonly associated with the rainbow. From the observations he made during the illustration, Newton concluded that the seven colors are components of white light. Therefore, Newton’s theory associates the perception

The use of Clozapine in the treatment of schizophrenia Essay

The use of Clozapine in the treatment of schizophrenia - Essay Example From the research it can be comprehended that it is the basic aim of health care systems to provide the highest quality of service possible to patients and thus novel ways to enhance service delivery are always being sought. Over the last two decades, health care has seen tremendous advancements in terms of both technology and practice and it is expected that this is a trend which will be kept up in the future. Among the most revolutionary health care aspects that have emerged during this period is Evidence-based practice (EBP). According to the National Library of Medicine Evidence-based practice is an approach to health care service provision which is guided by thoughtful integration of the best available scientific knowledge with clinical expertise. The medical practitioner can examine research data, clinical guidelines and other information tools in a bid to give the right diagnosis and thus quality treatment followed by reflection on the outcome which aid in improvements in the future. It is simply the integration of individual expertise and the best external evidence and patient values. Evidence-based Practice rightfully involves the best and most current research evidence with educational or clinical expertise and the relevant perspectives of stakeholders in order to ensure that the best possible decision is made for patients. Evidence-based Practice can be broken down into four steps that begin and end with the patient, and whose mastery defines expertise in the practice. After the four steps, implementation and re-evaluation follow. The first step involves formulating a focused clinical question after observing the patient. Such questions are carefully thought out foreground queries that generally have answers. They serve as the anchors to the other three steps of Evidence-based Practice. A mnemonic approach involving examination of the patient, the possible intervention(s) and comparisons and finally the outcome of interest is one of the best approach es put forward for developing a good foreground question. This is usually referred to as PICO (Patient, Intervention, Comparison and Outcome) (Lang 2004, p. 91). Booth (2006, pp. 358-359) argues that challenging practice rituals is a good way to come up with focused clinical questions. The primary goal is conversion of a precise and sometimes unclear information need into a query that can be answered. The type of questions that one can come up with may be predictive, interventional or explorative. The next step after the formulation of a focused question is undertaking to search for evidence. Information literacy is important here as the practitioner is required to match the PICO question with a relevant study design. Internet is quite an important tool here as it facilitates the gathering of information, and the next step in search for information is selecting on a relevant database to use, a decision influences by the time constraints and degree of information being sought. Some o f the studies usually used include systematic reviews, randomized control studies and case control studies and the choice is influenced by the PICO (Lang 2004, p. 92). Rodrigues (2000, p. 1345) is of the opinion that randomized clinical trials and systematic reviews of peer-reviewed primary research work provide coherent and systematic evidence on the effectiveness of interventions taken. The third step of Evidence-based

Evaluation Argument - Essay Example In other words the material things which were acquired from the earth will not help us in our future assignment. After death a person’s body will be destroyed; but what will happen to the mind and spirit? The relation between mind and spirit with the body is still debated among psychologists and philosophers. What will happen to the mind and body if all the materials used in the making of our body with some other materials from another planet? It is difficult to answer the above question though we can assume certain things on the basis of the evidences at present we have. The concept of mind and spirit is still a confusing topic for the psychologists and the philosophers. In my opinion mind cannot exist without a body and hence it will be destroyed after the death of the body. Our mind activities are controlled by our brain which is made of material things and once those material things destroyed all the entities associated with them like the mind will also be destroyed. But what will happen to the spirit? Physicians explain various functions of body while psychologists concentrate on the activities of mind. But nobody knows much about the soul or spirit though everybody agrees that it is the spirit which drives us in this material world. After death what happens to the spirit? Only the religions studied about the features of spirit and they have their own explanations about the future of spirit on the basis of the good and evil committed during the life in earth. Religions believe that those who engaged in good activities during the stay on earth will get salvation after death while others will be punished by God. I don’t want to comment on the future of spirit or mind. But I would like to argue that both spirit and mind can travel at a speed which may be greater than that of light. Light rays are considered to be the fastest (3 x 108 m/s) thing in the world. As per the principles of Physics nothing can achieve a speed greater than
