Instructions for Writing Global Warming - Essay Example Whether we are right or wrong on this score, I still think that it is necessary to conserve the balance of nature in order to keep our earth healthy, thus ensuring that future generations of humans as well as other living beings benefit and thrive as we have done for so many generations. For hundreds of thousands of years, the concentration of greenhouse gases mainly consisting of carbon dioxide and the average global temperature have fluctuated causing the various ice ages. However, for the last several thousands of years a balance in the carbon dioxide emitted and that absorbed by nature has resulted in fairly stable temperatures that have allowed human civilization to develop and thrive. The amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has increased by more than a third since the industrial revolution. Historically such great changes have taken place slowly over thousands of years. This clearly points to increase in human emissions. Industrialization and its hunger for power and speed have led to drastic changes in human lifestyles during the last century. This I believe is the main cause for increasing temperatures, and the sooner we do something about it the better.
